D Wade on Young 2 Guards: I’m Their Measuring Stick, like Kobe was Mine

It’ll be interesting to see how Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade is perceived among basketball heads in barbershops after his career over. Is he one of the best 2 guards ever? I won’t lie, I have to stop and think about it. For all of the people who will say he played second fiddle to LeBron’s championships, I’m quick to remind people how he carried a Heat team to the 2006 NBA Finals.
Regardless of how great Wade is, he always seems to come up just short of Kobe Bryant. Nothing wrong with that, Kobe is one of the greatest players of all-time so to even be able to compare the two is something to be respected. For awhile now, those two are the immediate names that come to mind when talking about the best 2 guards in the league.
But as with all good things, they must come to an end eventually. Kobe is in his 18th season and Wade has looked to be slowing down the last couple of season. Which kind of opens the way for the new crop of young guards to stake their place in the league. Wade had this to say about it:
Dwyane Wade on whether the young 2s in the game are measuring themselves against him: "They're supposed to. Kobe was my measuring stick."
